For stainless steel turning, the Tungaloy Corporation has now launched its new grades of AH600 Series with SF, SM, and SH chipbreakers. The new PVD coated AH600 grade offers exceptional chipping and wear resistance for end users when conducting medium to high speed turning operations.
The new AH600 Series is available with the AH630 and AH645 grades. The AH630 is recommended for general turning applications with a great balance of fracture and wear resistance. This versatile grade is ideal for stainless steel and particularly austenite stainless machining with its great chipping resistance and adhesion strength. Alongside the AH645 is the grade for rough and interrupted machining at large depths of cut. Demonstrating excellent fracture resistance when machining at low to medium speeds, the AH645 is far superior to competitor product offerings.
Incorporating Tungaloy's special surface technology “PremiumTec”, the new AH600 Series has a high level of resistance to adhesion and notch wear, which can prove a problem for competitor grades when stainless steel machining. The new SF and SH chipbreaker inserts are suitable for finishing and roughing operations respectively. Tungaloy is currently supplying SM chipbreaker for medium machining. With addition of new chipbreakers, new products are suitable for a wide range of applications of stainless steel turning.
The new SF type chipbreaker for finishing has a large rake angle to reduce cutting forces and the size of the chip contact area. This feature lowers cutting forces and chip adhesion on the rake face, considerably improving tool life and surface finishes. Additionally, the SF chipbreaker has a well designed inclination that further enhances the chip control. These features offer outstanding chip control when machining at small depths of cut at high feed rates. The unique cutting edge that reduces the cutting forces also prevents burring from taking place.
The SH type chipbreaker for roughing has a well developed negative land that improves the strength of the cutting edge. In addition, the innovative chipbreaker geometry provides low cutting forces, when rough and interrupted machining. Suitable for a wide range of cutting depths, the SH type chipbreaker is the best choice for rough machining with its outstanding fracture resistance and extremely tough cutting edge.
The exciting new AH600 Series with SF, SM and SH chipbreakers are available in CNMG, DNMG, SNMG, TNMG, VNMG and WNMG designations with corner radius including 0.4, 0.8, 1.2, 1.6 mm dependent upon the selected insert. Under extensive tests, the new insert grades have been proven to drastically improve tool life and productivity for the end user in stainless steel turning applications.
