During the 1980s, Western Pennsylvania was home to a number of industrial distributors, their presence made possible by a booming steel industry and the variety of Westinghouse affiliated businesses in the area. These established distributors did not cater to many medium and small-sized machine shops. In this failure of existing distributors to meet the needs of small shops, Mary Catherine Motchar, James Clayton, and David Tosh saw an opportunity. In 1985 they founded Arbor Industrial Supplies, Inc.
The customer’s best interest is the center point of Arbor’s service. In today’s high-tech world it is important to develop favorable working relationships with both customers and vendors and to do this on a personal level. With all of the possible channels of distribution available to customers, Arbor Industrial consistently focuses on providing quality products and offering excellent technical service. This distinguishes them from the competition.
Over time, Arbor Industrial has changed from a general line distributor to a specialist in cutting tools. Nevertheless, if a customer needs any item, Arbor Industrial’s sales staff works hard to acquire the item or aid the customer in finding a source for it.
